After Christchurch, Meghan and I branched off and hopped onto the Naked Bus and went up to Nelson. We stayed at this funky hostel called "The Palace". I LOVED IT! It had been an old victorian mansion on top of this hill overlooking Nelson. We could see the beach from our little sun deck where we would sit and write postcards and enjoy the sunny weather. We rested up quite a bit and explored the town. Nelson is full of cute little shops and boutiques.
One of the days we bussed out to Richmond and visited one of her friend's family's farm. It was absolutely charming! They were very kind people and had us over for dinner after giving us the royal tour of the place. We had such a fun time with them and then headed back into town to explore a bit more. There is an amazing pizza place that we ate dinner at one night in Richmond, I was thoroughly impressed with this swiss pizza we got.
Another day Meghan and I walked out a couple miles out of town to the beach. We explored the harbor and then sat and did some henna on the beach. After covering our hands and feet with henna, we walked barefoot back to town and I think I gave myself I cramp in my foot...haha. The beach and henna were worth it though.
The day we left I met up with Ly who had been woofing (working on farms) on a goat farm for a few days. We went to Founder's Brewery park and tasted their top brews of the season. It was really enjoyable to sit out and catch up with her after spending the past 2 weeks in a tent with the same girls!
From Nelson, we headed to Picton and caught the ferry to Wellington. There was a bit of drama with the rental car and we almost missed our ferry but we made it in the end safe and sound! GOSH I LOVE WELLINGTON!
