After a crazy week of classes and turning in assignments, I headed down to spend the weekend in Wellington before flying down to Invercargill. In Wellington, I went up to the windmill and climbed up mount Victoria. I am so lucky with the weather whenever I am there and always take advantage of the amazing dinning the city has to offer. I finally made it into this alternative gallery called Manky Chops that had been closed the past few times I was in the city. They feature local artwork that has a fun whimsical vibe.
(Will be posting pics later when my internet is better!)
That Sunday I caught an early flight into Invercargill, which is one of the most southern cities in the southern hemisphere. There I met up with Meghan and a couple of her friends and we stayed at a backpacking hostel after getting a yummy bite to eat at the ‘Zookeepers’ cafĂ©. Zookeepers entertained us with great music and a diverse but small menu featuring a couple gluten free options which is always nice!
Today, we drove the coast from Invercargill up to Te Anua. I love driving on the coast, I always am worried that I will fill my memory card with pictures of the ocean before I even get to our destination. We got into Te Anua, set up our campsite overlooking the lake and took a walk into town. The ‘LakeSide Campsite’ we are staying is fabulous! The kitchen and living room are nicer than the hostel we stayed at last night and I can get wireless internet in my tent!!!
Craziest coincidence happened to me that night. I was sitting writing this and I looked up and sitting down at the computers in front of me was Glen Coffman who I graduated high school with! HA! It was great to catch up with him and meet some of his friends from Australia. Then later we booked a boat tour through Milford Sound for tomorrow and I CAN’T WAIT!
