Milford Sound

The girls and I made a big granola and yoghurt breakfast and then hit the road to Milford Sound. We arrived safely but unfortunately Meghan got a speeding ticket on the way there which put a damper on our positive vibes. I promise I will post pictures as soon as possible :)!

Once we got there, we made a couple sandwiches and hiked up to a beautiful viewpoint and took a walk around the fiord. Up at the viewpoint, we took a seat, wrote a few reflections/letters and I sketched the scenery a bit. We then headed off to board our boat.

Once we were on the water I couldn’t help but think how fortunate I am to be seeing such SPECTACULAR natural wonder! These mountains jutted straight up out of the water. We passed by Mitre Peak, which is the highest mountain to project out of the water. It is 2000 meters high! We passed by some adorable seals basking in the sun and got heavily misted by some beautiful waterfalls. The water was this rich deep blue because it is so deep and cold. After our breathtaking tour, we piled back in the car and got pizza at this sweet Italian pizzeria called ‘La Toscana’ in Te Anua. That night we got up and drove to Queenstown. We set up out campsite and went into town to catch up with some internet work. I ended up going and exploring the town and stopped into the ‘World Bar’. Yet again, another crazy coincidence happened and I ran into Jen Roebuck who I grew up with! Here I am standing in this crowded bar on the other side of the world and I randomly run into my first sleepover buddy and elementary schoolmate! Travel is full of surprises and such a trip sometimes!
