Sweet as mate!

Today might have been my best day in Palmy so far! I had crazy adventurous dreams throughout my 12 hours of sleep, and woke up to a sunny morning/afternoon.  I caught the bus down to Victoria Esplanade park and met up with a few people from the surf club and did a bit of slack lining.  The park was so beautiful, full of rose and flower gardens and heaps of children running around on the playgrounds!
After stocking up on produce, cheese and imported goods at this great market called Fresh Central, my friends and I headed to a free Hangi on campus.  A Hangi is a traditional Maori feast with potatoes, kumara (a sweet potato like vegetable), stuffing, meat, and veggies that is cooked in the ground (like a Hawaiian luau).  After filling our belly's with some yummy food, Dave, Max, Jess, Kayton, and I walked down to the the arboretum like area on campus and played this funny frisbee game called "touch".  You play with 4 people, two on each team, and you throw the frisbee back and forth and gain points by catching the frisbee with one hand after your partner has tapped it with either his/her head (3 points), feet (2 points) or hand (1 point).  Very simple but very entertaining!  Then we decided to raft down the river on campus in inter-tubes and kayaks....SWEET AS MATE! (The kiwis say that all the time...they also say "heaps" quite a bit)  There were some fun little rapids and pretty good current! I never though I would have that much fun on the Massey campus!
