Last Minute Vacation to the Lakes

After an insane two hours of figuring out my classes, two of my new friends and I decided to rent a car late that night and drive back up to Rotorua the next morning. This way I could pick up my lost bag and have a bit of relaxation time on Lake Rotoitti. I was rather sceptical of our last minute car rental but the next morning I met them at the bus stop and our extended party of 5 pilled in this little Toyota and off we went! I got my first few hours of driving on the other side of the road under my belt! I must admit, I did hit the window wipers a couple times instinctively thinking they were the turn signal.

We stopped in Taupo and had lunch at a little cafe and then continued onward. We pulled over at these natural hot springs and took a dip in these amazing hot waterfalls. After another hour or so we made it to our lake house. We made an incredible dinner and hit the sac.

The next morning we all hiked up and jumped off this huge 60ft cliff jump (Caroline, I was thinking of you!). Ever part of my body was screaming DON'T fling yourself off that little ledge but I wasn't about to climb back down the steep climb. Plus I had thrown my swimming gear down into the water and I couldn't wait to go swim! When we got down to the shore this local said that I "was the third chick [he] had seen jump that in ten years!" Another couple told me they would buy me a coffee if I did it again so they could take a picture but I had had my fix. We then took a walk to the neighboring lake and made a wish at a wishing tree. We hoped to go fishing on this mans boat but things came up and that plan was foiled, so instead we relaxed by the lake side. It is lovely here!
